About the Performance

J.S. Bach’s cantata Christen, ätzet diesen Tag, BWV 63 was first performed on Christmas Day 1723 in Leipzig, where Bach had been working for less than six months.

The performance by the Netherlands Bach Society in this video was conducted by Marcus Creed and includes four trumpets, three oboes and timpani. The performance took place on December 13, 2018 at the Grote Kerk, Naarden. It was produced for All of Bach, a project of the Netherlands Bach Society.
