About the Artist
Maddox Realejo
Rhode Island native Maddox Realejo, 22, has been studying and performing classical piano since the age of 9. He has been studying under critically acclaimed international pianist Spencer Myer since fall of 2019. Previously, he was a student of Irina Tchantceva at the R.I. Philharmonic Music School. At 16, he won the Rhode Island Philharmonic Concerto Competition, performing Beethoven’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the R.I. Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, led by conductor Alexey Shabalin. He earned the “Beethoven Award” and a superior rating at the 2018 URI Piano Extravaganza Competition.
At Longy School of Music of Bard College, Realejo studied and performed all of Chopin’s 24 Etudes and expanded his repertoire with renowned concertos. Beyond solo works, he excels in collaborative repertoire, regularly performing chamber works and accompanying string instruments and vocalists. He has participated in numerous masterclasses with world-famous musicians; including Olga Kern, Stewart Goodyear, and Joyce Yang. In 2022, he won first place at the MTNA State Competition in Rhode Island.
Maddox Realejo has been developing a reputation in the Northeast region through frequent solo recitals, and is currently continuing his education in Spencer Myer’s studio at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
