About the Artists
Yunwen Chen
Cellist Yunwen Chen is developing her career as a chamber musician, soloist, and teacher. She has collaborated with musicians worldwide at the Perlman Music Workshop, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Yellow Barn, and Kneisel Hall. Since January 2024, Yunwen has been a teaching artist at Boston Arts Academy.
Born & raised in Nanjing, China, Yunwen’s professional music training began at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with Dahai Liu. Her piano trio “Y”, founded at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, was a Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition winner.
At age 16, Yunwen came to the United States to study music at the Interlochen Arts Academy, where she was a concerto competition winner. Between 2013 and 2021, Yunwen studied at the New England Conservatory of Music with Paul Katz. She completed her formal training at the Manhattan School of Music, earning a Professional Performance Diploma under the guidance of Julia Lichten.
Yunwen plays on a 1771 instrument made by Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi.
Elias Dagher
Pianist Elias Dagher values music’s power to tell stories and build community. He lives in Quincy, MA. Last spring, Elias completed a two year fellowship at Bard College, where he worked daily with both vocalists and instrumentalists in his role as a collaborative pianist. The program is headed by pianists and vocal coaches Erika Switzer and Kayo Iwama, whose deep love of art song will leave a lasting impression on Elias.
Elias spent the summer of 2022 at the Tanglewood Music Center as a fellow and will return this summer. In January 2023, Elias and bass-baritone Michael Alexander Aoun presented two song recitals in Lebanon, at the Nabu Museum and the Lebanese American University of Beirut.
Elias holds degrees from Columbia University (where he participated in the Exchange Program with Juilliard) and New England Conservatory. Some of his most influential teachers have included Eugene Kaminsky, Jeffrey Goldberg, Julian Martin, Jerome Lowenthal, Alexander Korsantia, Vivian Weilerstein, and Cameron Stowe.
