About the Ensemble

Erinys Quartet The Erinys Quartet was founded in 2018 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where they worked closely with cellist Marko Ylönen. The quartet was named for the Erinyes (Furies) from the Greek tragedy Oresteia by Aeschylus. The quartet is supported by Le Dimore del Quartetto and are a part of the European Union-sponsored MERITA platform.

The Erinys Quartet has performed throughout Europe and the United States and have been featured at the Indiana University Summer Music Series, the Mimir Chamber Music Festival (Texas), and Festival Groba (Ponteareas, Spain). The quartet has studied at the Professional String Quartet Studies program (Indiana University) with the Pacifica Quartet and violist Atar Arad.

Their association with the Curtis Institute of Music began in June 2022 at the inaugural Dover Quartet Workshop. Erinys was subsequently invited to continue their studies with the Dover Quartet as the Nina von Maltzahn String Quartet-in-Residence at Curtis. Erinys is also pursuing a diploma in chamber music at Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, Spain, under the tutelage of Günter Pichler.
