Rhode Island has only a few residential buildings recognized for their ultra-low energy profile. Two of them are right here in Wakefield-Peace Dale.
The first was the Mechanic Street Passive House in Wakefield, completed in 2015. The second was the Maynard Passive House in nearby Peace Dale, completed in mid-2017. The same architect and builder teamed up for both projects. Click here for an introduction to the Passive House building standard.
Halfway through the project, we decided to have an Open House. On Thursday, October 27, 2016, about fifty people visited the construction site and learned about recent developments in building science. Those that weren’t able to attend had a second opportunity, a guided tour organized by NESEA in early December.
Where
103 North Road in the village of Peace Dale. Attendees parked at the construction site or at nearby Lily Pads Professional Center, 27 North Road.
