About the Artists

Clara Neubauer

Praised for her “seductive artistry” and “rare grace” (Classical Voice North America), violinist Clara Neubauer is establishing herself as a deeply expressive and authentic artist. She is a proud recipient of the Kovner Fellowship from the Juilliard School as well as winner of the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music. Clara received the Ana Chumachenco Award at the Kronberg Academy Masterclasses and was chosen to perform as soloist with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. Clara received her BM from The Juilliard School as a student of Li Lin and Itzhak Perlman, and is currently pursuing her MM as a student of Catherine Cho and Itzhak Perlman.

Clara has appeared at festivals including Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia Festival, Taos School of Music, Four Seasons Workshop, Music From Angel Fire, Perlman Music Program, Music@Menlo, Prussia Cove, and Olympic Music Festival, as well as on tour with Musicians from Marlboro and Taos on Tour.

This season includes appearances with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, Prussia Cove Chamber Music, and Caramoor Evnin Rising Stars Program. Clara has performed with artists including Mitsuko Uchida, Christoph Richter, Donald Weilerstein, Alexi Kenney, Frans Helmerson, Misha Amory, Nina Lee, Daniel Phillips, and the Dover Quartet.

Umi Garrett

Umi Garrett is a highly accomplished solo, collaborative, and chamber pianist based in New York City. A first-prize winner of the Juilliard School’s Concerto Competition and a finalist at the National Chopin Piano Competition, Umi has performed numerous recitals in the United States and internationally. As a dedicated collaborator, Umi has performed at renowned competitions such as the Primrose International Viola Competition and the Sphinx Competition with prize-winners. Most recently, Umi was awarded the John Newmark Prize for Best Collaborative Pianist for her performances with finalist Nathan Meltzer at the 2023 Montreal International Violin Competition.

Umi has performed and toured with orchestras such as the Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Boca Raton, Boston Symphony and Pops, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Wuhan Symphony Orchestra, and the New Mexico Philharmonic. Umi is also a passionate performer of new music, and has collaborated with and performed pieces by acclaimed composers such as Samuel Adler, inti figgis-vizueta, and Gabriela Smith.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Umi is deeply committed to non-profit organizations and humanitarian causes, organizing two arts festivals at the height of COVID and co-founding Pacific Academy Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing scholarships to young artists, athletes, and scholars. Umi has also given lecture-performances at TEDx conferences and La Ciudad de las Ideas in Mexico.

Umi has released three solo albums and is set to release her most recent album this season of the complete Beethoven Sonatas for piano and cello, recorded in collaboration with cellist Emily Mantone. Umi is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Hung-Kuan Chen where she is a proud recipient of the Kovner Fellowship. Umi is a Young Steinway Artist.

About the Concert

The performance begins at 3:00 pm. Join us an hour earlier for a pre-concert discussion about the music on the program. After the performance, you’ll have an opportunity to meet the artist(s) and learn about their backgrounds, interests, and career plans.

The address of the venue is 103 North Road, Wakefield, Rhode Island 02879. Driving time from Providence, Newport, Westerly, and southeastern Connecticut is under an hour, and Amtrak’s Kingston Station is only five miles away.

The suggested contribution for this concert is $40 per person, collected at the door. We accept cash, personal checks, and cards. Checks should be payable to “Core Memory Music”. All contributions go directly to our performing artists. To make your contribution in advance, click here.
